Oahu Vacations – Top 10 Destinations

Waikiki – Waikiki is number 10 on our countdown. Here the weather is nice almost all of the time. You will see a lot of people due to its popularity to tourist. This is a great place to walk and explore beaches and shops. Most places have no dress code and allow you to eat with just beach attire. Oahu vacations almost always start here.

Haunama Bay – Number 9 of our countdown. Here you will be able to snorkel and see fish and other sea creatures for sure. Go early though, it can get very crowded very fast. Make sure you call ahead to be sure the beach is open.

Sandy Beach – Now we arrive at our number 8 Oahu location. Sandy Beach is well know for its shore break. Here your will find a lot of boogie boarders and body surfers. Be sure to check with lifeguards before entering the water due to its dangerous conditions. Some days its better to just soak up the sun and watch the action in the water.

Waimea Bay – #7 of our top 10 bring us to the north shore. Oahu Vacations that do not include Waimea Bay will indeed be missing something. During the winter months you will find some of the biggest waves you have ever seen. It is recommended that only very experiences surfers enter the water, everyone else should just enjoy the view. If there’s no waves, this is also a very nice place to snorkel.

Haleiwa Town – Since you’ll be on the north shore, you can check out all the cool little stores at our number 6 spot. You’ll be sure to find little items to take home for your memories. Also there are many great food locations, to many to list.

Sand Island Recreational Area – Our top 10 is at our half way mark with number 5. This cool location is tucked away hidden behind a industrial area. Once you get here you will definitely be amazed. There is a beautiful area to picnic and relax. This beach is not often crowded, and is a great place on Oahu that’s not very known.

Maunawili Falls – Make sure to bring your camera for unbelievable photo opportunities. Number 4 is a nice hike on the east side of Oahu. About 50 minutes into your hike you will find a amazing water fall with a swimming area. Well worth the hike, that’s for sure! If your a little adventurous there are different spots on the falls to jump off into the water below.

Kailua Beach Park – Almost done at our #3 spot. Come early on weekends to get a good spot and beat the crowd. This is a family friendly beach, very calm waters, and lifeguards on duty. You can enjoy a picnic in the park or on the beach. If that doesn’t interest you, rent a kayak and check out Flat Island which is only a short distance from the beach.

Lanikai – Oahu vacations seem to run out of time really fast when your having fun. Don’t miss out on beautiful Lanikai. Number 2 on our top 10 destinations. Here you will find crystal clear waters and very relaxing beaches. Also a short kayak from the beach you’ll find Moku Lua, aka “Twin Islands”. A popular destination for locals and tourists alike.

Ahu O Laka – Better known as the Sandbar, this is our number 1 destination on Oahu. Just a short boat ride from Heeia Kea Pier, you find a beach in the middle of the ocean. Make sure to check the tides, the sand is only out of the water when the tide is low. Any other time it will be ankle to knee deep. Find someone with a boat or book yourself on a charter, Oahu vacations are not complete without visiting this destination before you leave.
